INTERSECTION, Alimi Al Dewale Solo Exhibition
This exhibition explores migration, free speech, materiality, and the human impact of rapid urban development through paintings and sculpture. Working with Dhurrie rugs, dyed and stitched heavy cotton, bronze, and stone, the artist examines the lives of city dwellers often overlooked, displaced, or erased by excessive urbanization, accelerated modernization, and the pressures of the global economy. The paintings focus on migration and movement, while the sculptures address freedom of expression through anonymous, near-faceless forms that invite reflection on individual rights, public voice, and the social conditions that shape silence and visibility.
