DUSK TO DAWN, By Carolina Ponte and Pedro Varela

Dusk to Dawn unfolds within a space of transition, where image and material shift between states of construction and dissolution. Bringing together two Brazilian practices, the exhibition operates through a dialogue between structure and representation, surface and perception.

Carolina Ponte’s work draws from ornamental traditions, translating crochet and pattern into a contemporary visual language that moves between drawing, textile, and installation. Her compositions construct rhythmic systems where repetition and variation produce a sense of quiet instability, balancing precision with fluidity.

In contrast, Pedro Varela engages with painting as a field of transformation, where flowers and urban landscapes emerge and recede through layers of color and gesture. His works oscillate between figuration and abstraction, allowing the image to remain in flux rather than fixed.

Rather than marking a linear passage from dusk to dawn, the exhibition holds this interval open. It becomes a space where form is continuously negotiated, where structure unravels into image, and image dissolves back into material, resisting resolution while remaining in motion.
